
PROFESSOR FLORENCE ONYEBUCHI ORABUEZE
DIRECTOR, INSTITUTE OF MARITIME STUDIES
Professor Florence Onyebuchi Orabueze, Ph.D., FCArb, FICMC, FISM, FiADRN, FiCMN, FNAL, is a distinguished scholar and academic leader in the Department of English and Literary Studies at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She earned her degrees from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and Abia State University, Uturu, and is a certified teacher registered by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria. She was inducted as UN/IWAPA PEACE AMBASSADOR on 19th August, 2025, and awarded Fellow of English Scholars' Association of Nigeria (FESAN) on 16th September, 2025, and was elected ASUU-UNN Chairman on 10th September, 2025.
Over the course of her career, she has established herself as an accomplished academic, researcher, and writer, publishing widely in reputable national and international journals, including impact factor–indexed outlets. Her scholarly contributions include three collections of poetry—The Return of Heart of Darkness and Other Poems, The Dawn of a New Day and Other Poems, and The Message of the Ayaka Masquerade and Other Poems—as well as a novel, Men Behind the Masks. She has also authored critical works such as Society, Women and Literature in Africa and The Creative Writer as a Human Rights Activist. In recognition of her academic contributions and mentorship, a festschrift of nearly 500 pages titled Perspectives on Language, Literature & Human Rights: Essays in Honour of Professor Florence Onyebuchi Orabueze was published in 2019.
Professor Orabueze has held several key administrative and leadership positions within the University of Nigeria. She made history as the first female Director of the Institute of African Studies. She later served as Director of the University of Nigeria Bookshop Ltd. and Director of the University of Nigeria Press Ltd., under whose leadership the Press won the 2019 Best Legal Depositor Merit Award from the National Library of Nigeria. She is currently the Director of the Institute of Maritime Studies, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus. Beyond these roles, she has served on numerous departmental, faculty, and university committees, and played vital roles in selection and search committees for principal officers of the university, including Registrar, Bursar, and Vice-Chancellor.
Her professional influence extends nationally. She has chaired and participated in accreditation panels of the Nigerian Universities Commission and served in several capacities for the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). In 2020, she was appointed General Coordinator for the Actualization of the Proposed Peaceland University of Education, Oji River, which was successfully licensed in 2023. That same year, she became Chairman of the Planning and Implementation Committee of the Proposed Ngozi Chukwugbo University, Ozubulu.
Professor Orabueze has been recognized with numerous fellowships and professional honors. She is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators, the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators, the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria, the Nigerian Academy of Letters, the Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution Development and Conflict Management, among others. She is also a foundation council member of the Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution Development and Conflict Management of Nigeria. In 2019, she earned a Diploma Certificate in Management of Higher Education Institutes from the Galilee International Management Institute, Israel, and in 2023 she graduated from the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru (PSLC47).
Through her research, publications, administrative service, and professional leadership, Professor Orabueze has demonstrated an enduring commitment to scholarship, institutional growth, and the promotion of ethical leadership and human rights in education and society.

NNAMDI CHIJIOKE ANYACHEBELU, PH.D.
SENIOR LECTURER, INSTITUTE OF MARITIME STUDIES & FACULTY OF LAW
Dr. Nnamdi Chijioke Anyachebelu is a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Maritime Studies, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, and a pioneer academic staff member of the Institute. He also serves as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Nigeria. Prior to joining the University, he practiced law full-time and has since continued to consult for government agencies both locally and internationally. His teaching and research focus on Public International Law, International Environmental Law, Climate Change Law, and Critical Approaches to Law. His scholarly works have been published in peer-reviewed journals. He holds an LL.B. from the University of Ilorin, a Qualifying Certificate in Law from the Nigerian Law School, an LL.M. in Environmental Regulation and Sustainable Development from Newcastle University (UK), and a Ph.D. in Law from Nnamdi Azikiwe University. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and a Member Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK).

DR. PAUL CHUKWUDI EZINNA
SENIOR LECTURER, INSTITUTE OF MARITIME STUDIES (IMS)
Dr. Paul Chukwudi Ezinna, is a Senior Lecturer in the Institute of Maritime Studies (IMS), University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC). He earned his degrees from University of Port Harcourt and University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
As an accomplished academic, he has earned certifications from reputable international organizations, including: International Maritime Organization (IMO), United Nations Institute for Training and Research (unitar), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (UNESCAP).
Dr. Ezinna, has published widely in both local and international journals, including impact factor – indexed outlets. His areas of academic interest borders on Decarbonization, Maritime Trade, Sustainable development and Policy Analysis.

DR. EZEASOR IKENNA CHRISTIAN
LECTURER/RESEARCH FELLOW INSTITUTE OF MARITIME STUDIES
Dr. Ezeasor Ikenna Christian is a lecturer/Research fellow with the Institute of Maritime Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka with a multi-disciplinary background. He is a graduate of Urban and Regional Planning, with higher degrees in Environmental Management (MSc.), Development Studies(MSc.), Business Management (PGD, MDA), and Development Studies(PGD). He is a fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria (FIMC), and belongs to some professional bodies including Nigerian Environmental Society (NIM), and Society for Professional Disaster Risk Management of Nigeria (SOPDRMN), and Environmental Management Association of Nigeria (EMAN). Have published in some impact factor journals in different areas and have some book chapters to his credit. His area of interest covers Marine and Blue economy, disaster reduction, sustainability, chemical security management, and business policy.

MR IKENNA AMUKA M.SC., MBA
LECTURER IN MARITIME BUSINESS MANAGEMENT & ECONOMICS AND TRADE.
Ikenna Amuka joined the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 2017 as a lecturer and Research Fellow in the Institute of Maritime Studies, specialising in Business Management, Economics and International Trade. I studied Economics (B.Sc.), Development Studies (M.Sc.), Management (MBA), and Environmental Management and Control (M.Sc.) at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Ikenna Amuka has held numerous positions in his working environment, and they are as follows: Secretary, Institute of Maritime Studies, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, Maiden International Conference 2024. Secretary, Curriculum Development Committee, Institute of Maritime Studies, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus. Secretary, Old Boys Association, College of Immaculate Conception (CIC), Enugu (CICOBA 94). Member of the Environmental Committee, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus. Member of the Sports Committee, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus. Team Captain, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, Staff Football Club.
Ikenna has teaching and research interests in maritime business management, maritime economics, international trade, and the sustainable development of the maritime environment. He has equally engaged students in research and academic modules.
Ikenna Amuka has published many journals focused on maritime issues, management and environmental concerns. He had delivered numerous lectures at international conferences and attended several academic workshops.

Mr. Fred Achoru is a dedicated professional with a background in Project Management, Maritime and management research including experience in the construction and oil & gas industries. He holds a Master of Science degree in Project Management from Aberdeen Business school of the Robert Gordon University, Scotland, UK and a Bachelor of Engineering in Soil and Water Engineering Technology from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) USA and the Association for Project Management (APM) UK.
Mr Achoru’s career began in the Private sector with ChevronTexaco Oil Nigeria PLC (Now MRS Oil Nigeria PLC). In 2018, Mr. Achoru transitioned into academia at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He serves as a lecturer with the Institute of Maritime Studies and the Department of Management. He continues to contribute to research in maritime. Management and environmental management, while teaching and mentoring postgraduate students. He also organizes and lead research initiatives, lecture, conferences, workshops, and provide academic supervision to students. His academic work has been published in various international journals.
